Gorge FC 2 - 2 U16 Gorge FC Gold

Two goals by each team on opposite sides of the half time break saw this game end in a deserved 2-2 tie.(A traitor in our midst?)

Both teams started the match with a depleted bench. The U16 team had only 9 players at the start so Clayton pulled on the opposition shirt for the first half. About 10 minutes in their 11th man showed up and was put into the game.

Our team was missing Kevin and Russell (illness), Steve (M.I.A.) and Jordy being in and out of the game with effects of the flu. At half time Coach Danny asked for a show of hands of players not feeling fully fit and another 3 or 4 put up their hands.
Early on our team made some adventureous pushes into the U16 third of the field with some close chances. We were battling well in the midfield and clearing effectively from the back end.
A couple of defensive lapses with loose marking allowed the U16's to score twice on Mateusz as we were back on our heels lacking some communication and intensity.

This was addessed at the break and a much better effort was put forth in the second half. RJ took Clayton's place on the U16 team.
This half was much more up and down play with sustained efforts from both sides. Mark scored on a break cutting left to right and slotted into the far side past the outstretched keeper.Our second goal had Jordy making a nice cross into the box with Mark pouncing on a bobbled ball by the keeper to pound it into the net. It always pays to play forward and go for goal.
We weathered a number of quality attacks by the U16's in the closing minutes for the final whistle to blow for the tie.
