Sept 24 Gorge FC v Lakehill - Preview

Our home opener and third game of the season has us pitted against Lakehill.
This is a team that definitely has had its ups and downs over the last few years. Lakehill did not field a Gold team in U12. In U13, despite a mid pack placing through league play, they were the team that won the Lower Island B Cup rep defeating Gorge FC in the semi's. Entering U14, they lost a number of kids to the Metro program and again finished the season mid table.

In the off season this year, they lost another player to Metro but were able to add last years Cordova Bay/Prospect Lake keeper Nick Reda. He is a solid keeper and we will need to have accurate shot selections to beat him. They have added a few other players to the squad and we shall see the impact they will have when we meet on Saturday.

Both Lakehill and Gorge FC enter the contest undefeated with Gorge at 2-0 after wins over Gordon Head and Bays United, and Lakehill at one win and one draw after defeating Bays in their season opener and tieing Gordon Head last weekend.

Gorge FC is going into the game with a healthy squad. This gives Coach Danny the luxury of a strong bench. The midweek practices have been pointed to a few of the area's that have shown to be needing improvement after the first two games.
The enthusiasm and spirit of the team is high heading into this match and Gorge will be looking to go 3-0 on the season.
