Gorge FC 2 - 0 SBM Vipers


South Burnaby Metro Club Vipers last weekend won their league cup, the 4District Pioneer Cup. They are presently in the Quarter-Finals in the Coastal Cup, in which winner and runner up will qualify for the BCSA Cup (B Cup Championships in Prince George)

A composed and ready Gorge FC handed the host club a 2-0 loss to open their tournament Saturday morning at 10 am.

Gorge FC's style of play is well suited to turf fields, and their passing game was on the money as the first goal was strung together with four great passes. Clayton from just inside the Burnaby half on the right side chipped a 15 yard pass up to Jordy in the middle of the pitch. Jordy touched the ball out to Mohin who returned the pass. Jordy was able to spot Russell making a run into the box and threaded a pass to him. Russell cooly slotted it past the keeper into the lower right corner.

In the second half, Russell was again in on the goal passing a hard ball from right to left from the top of the box into the path of the onrushing Lucasz. Lucasz was able to deflect the ball into the back of the net.

The marking was excellent, passing was great, defending stalwart as Mateusz was rarely tested.
Jordy was making his presence felt all over the pitch, taking players on one on one and being his usual tenancious self. He set the tone for the team this weekend as he has throughout the year.

The final score of 2-0 flattered the hosts as Gorge FC could have easily added a couple more to the total.
